From a small rented building in 1961 to a 12-hectare autonomous campus — the journey of GP Kolhapur is one of steady, purposeful growth.
Government Polytechnic, Kolhapur was established in 1961 with Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Diploma programmes. Starting in a modest rented space, the institute soon moved to its own campus spanning approximately 12 hectares — accommodating academic buildings and hostels.
The institute holds the distinction of being the first academically autonomous Government Polytechnic in the state of Maharashtra, a recognition that reflects decades of academic commitment and excellence.
Rich with highly qualified faculty, modernized laboratories and robust infrastructure, GP Kolhapur continues serving industry and society. Alumni either proceed to higher education or secure employment through regular campus interviews organized by the Training and Placement Cell.
🏅 Four programmes were awarded 3-year accreditation by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, in December 2003 — a national-level recognition of the institute’s educational standards.
